A Princess is Born

Not sure if I’m going to stick with this moniker (read about its origin here) … we’ll see.

Yesterday, at 5:23 pm, our little girl came into the world. I started the Pitocin at 8:45 am (ish) and the doctor broke my water around 9:30, I think. Then the contractions started and I wimped out — getting the epidural around 10:45. The original nurse made a prediction of 1:00 pm and I think that got my hopes up. So when 3:00 rolled around and the next nurse came in and stated I was only dialated 3-4 cm, I was very discouraged. She along with my surrogate nurse, my MIL (who did wonderfully, BTW, in keeping my spirits high), kept informing me of the major contractions I was having, trying to cheer me up (I was REALLY numb and couldn’t even feel my left leg).

But then the epidural started to wear off and I could feel a little more pain and pressure (I kept telling the nurse it felt like I had to poop really bad and had severe constipation cramps) and the contractions were definitely strong. DH helped by reminding me of the breathing techniques. By 4:00, I had dialated to 5 cm and by 5:00 I was at 10 — with a “top off” on the epidural for the finale!

The doctor came in and within 5 contractions and 10 pushes, our little girl was out! It was SOOOO easy. Thank God for modern medicine!

Do we love Pixar?

In case you are wondering …

that’s Lightning McQueen in his right hand and The King in his left hand.

Too bad he wore is WALL-E pj’s last night.  That would have really topped it off.

Monkey’s Monkey

Monkey has a few monkeys.  Now that he’s fully interested in Curious George and animals in general, he prefers the monkey we bought him which looks more like a real monkey with brown and cream colors rather than the one that’s blue and cream.  He sleeps with this particular monkey often and loves him.

We have a book called HUG which he loves and has learned how to give hugs with great expression and affection because of not only us but this book.  This book features a monkey and he LOVES this book.  I, too, love this book even though it has few words — three, I think.

I bought another monkey from Five Below.  This one was supposed to be for me.  YES, for me.  You see, it’s the same monkey Zane Lamprey totes around in the show Three Sheets.  His name is Pleepleus.  I wanted to keep this monkey in the car (understanding that my Monkey would want to hold it, I thought it would be a good “car” toy).  Well, Monkey loves Pleepleus and Pleepleus is now another favorite.

The other day, Monkey, Pleepleus and I were driving home from daycare and Monkey said “OW!” very emphaticly from the backseat.  Trying to be clever, I asked, “Did monkey bite you?”  Monkey played along and said, “Yes!”

I said, “Well, tell Monkey, ‘No biting!’” and Monkey said, “Yeah!”

Then a few minutes later, Monkey yelled, “OW!”

Again, I asked, “Did the monkey bite you?”

“Yeah!” Monkey exclaimed.

“Okay, tell Monkey not to bite!” I said smiling.

“Yeah!” Monkey exclaimed again.

A few minutes later at a red light, Monkey said again, “OW!”

I said, “Okay, I think we need to put the monkey in a timeout!”

Then very quietly and apprehensively, Monkey said, “No.”

You see, Monkey has had numerous timeouts recently with his hitting and occassional biting behavior.  He hates them as he should.  But I thought it was rather funny yet sad that he didn’t want to put his own monkey in a timeout.

That’s my Mama!

At the dinner table earlier this evening, the Cirque du Bebe family eating tacos …

La Folle:   BEEEEELCH!

Monkey:  (giggles)

DH:  You know, you’ll have to stop that soon?

La Folle:  Oh?  ‘Cause he’ll pick it up?

DH:  Yeah.  That was strictly forbidden in our house.  If you did it, you’d have to say “Excuse me.”

La Folle:  Yeah, our house was a little less restrictive (Meanwhile, she’s thinking, “In fact, it was kinda encouraged.”)

Later, DH is getting Monkey ready for bed.  As La Folle walks up the stairs, she lets out a ripper of a belch.

Monkey (from his bedroom):  MAMA!

Well, at least the boy knows me. :)
