I need to do this more often

meaning blogging.

I come up with these brilliant ideas I’d like to share in the middle of work, or yoga class, or driving and by the time I HAVE the time to do so … the ideas are gone.  I had this one, well, I guess if it were truly brilliant I would have remembered, but the one thing I remembered about it was that I was going to have a Title and a Subtitle.  Isn’t it weird that’s the only thing I remember about it?

Anyway, I do have many post ideas with pictures of Monkey to boot from recent cirque du famille activities.  I will try to post them tomorrow night or sometime soon.  Just thought I’d lament on the ones lost tonight.

Eau de Birthday Boy

Eau de Birthday Boy will evoke memories of summer days spent playing outdoors, get sweaty and not minding it a bit.  This complex fragrance is made up of many scents including sunblock, dirt, sweat tones and notes of sugary icing and cake.birthdayBoy

Notes: Sunblock, Dirt, Earth, Sweat, Sugar, Vanilla

Style: Timeless, fun and innocent

I was sitting next to Monkey this evening after picking him up from daycare and admiring his little boy funk.  They had a party for him today and it was obvious he had cake all over him at some point.

Being a Mom means …

… rarely getting to sleep in and relishing the days you have the opportunity to do so.

… praying you can drop your kid off at daycare and get to work without one stain.

… you don’t “do” your hair everyday — or even once a week.

… silence is now comforting and not scary, unless the children are awake. :)

… loving the littlest but sweetest hugs and kisses.

… your day can be all better with a tiny voiced “wuv yoo”.

… knowing though your work will never be done, you’ve known no better reward than your child’s smile.

Happy Mommy’s Day to all the muthas!

Quit pissing in my cornflakes!

I must have done something recently karmically which required little things to go wrong or not my way recently.  Maybe it was that woman I flipped off yesterday for tailgating me (it was 8 am on Saturday morning, gimme a break)?

I’m not going to whine on about all of the little things that have added up to me feeling like the world is pissing in my cornflakes because they’re minor but all together, really annoying!

Monkey’s Monkey

Monkey has a few monkeys.  Now that he’s fully interested in Curious George and animals in general, he prefers the monkey we bought him which looks more like a real monkey with brown and cream colors rather than the one that’s blue and cream.  He sleeps with this particular monkey often and loves him.

We have a book called HUG which he loves and has learned how to give hugs with great expression and affection because of not only us but this book.  This book features a monkey and he LOVES this book.  I, too, love this book even though it has few words — three, I think.

I bought another monkey from Five Below.  This one was supposed to be for me.  YES, for me.  You see, it’s the same monkey Zane Lamprey totes around in the show Three Sheets.  His name is Pleepleus.  I wanted to keep this monkey in the car (understanding that my Monkey would want to hold it, I thought it would be a good “car” toy).  Well, Monkey loves Pleepleus and Pleepleus is now another favorite.

The other day, Monkey, Pleepleus and I were driving home from daycare and Monkey said “OW!” very emphaticly from the backseat.  Trying to be clever, I asked, “Did monkey bite you?”  Monkey played along and said, “Yes!”

I said, “Well, tell Monkey, ‘No biting!’” and Monkey said, “Yeah!”

Then a few minutes later, Monkey yelled, “OW!”

Again, I asked, “Did the monkey bite you?”

“Yeah!” Monkey exclaimed.

“Okay, tell Monkey not to bite!” I said smiling.

“Yeah!” Monkey exclaimed again.

A few minutes later at a red light, Monkey said again, “OW!”

I said, “Okay, I think we need to put the monkey in a timeout!”

Then very quietly and apprehensively, Monkey said, “No.”

You see, Monkey has had numerous timeouts recently with his hitting and occassional biting behavior.  He hates them as he should.  But I thought it was rather funny yet sad that he didn’t want to put his own monkey in a timeout.
