Girls’ night out?

DH suggested recently that I need to schedule a regular “girls’ night out” with some of my friends. I understand his concern. I’ve spent a lot of time at home recently working either for work or around the house and have become well, kinda boring. I understand the need for friends and how those experiences enrich your life. For instance, tonight we finally went over to our new neighbor’s house and it turns out that we have a lot in common with both of them. It was fun and a good release from the daily (or nightly) routine we usually have.

However, when he suggested the girls’ night out, I told him of the logistic impossibility of a “regular” girls’ night out. Pretty much all of my friends are now mothers. Even when we weren’t mothers, it was hard to get together but now it’s doubly hard. First, there’s the need to figure out when the hubbies can watch the kids, make sure all of the mommies are available at that time and THEN figure out a place where all of us can go. Just a lot more work than it used to be when we were childless or even single.

I dunno. Half the time I barely have enough energy or time to do my daily stuff let alone incorporate something like this. So sad. But the reason I’m posting this is because I’d like to see my mommy friends more often in a setting where we can actually talk without keeping our young in our periphery and an environment where we are able to finish a thought. And in the process, maybe even have a wild night (or afternoon, or morning or whatever seems to work). Any thoughts?

That’s Silly! And other Silly Shenanigans …

“That’s silly!” This is one of Monkey’s new favorite phrases. And there’s a hand chopping sort of motion that goes with it. Another phrase which has a similar gesture but the palm faces you at the end is, “Don’t say that!” (Take a guess why he’s learned this one.)

He’s still saying the “Oh sure” which cracks me up. Especially when he picks up his toy phone and says, “Hello? Oh sure. Bye.”

Other Monkey silly shenanigans …

What would a trip to Home Depot be without a test drive on a mower?

“Wanna ride the horse?” He meant Dino. :)

Smooth Operator

After picking him up from daycare the other day, I was exhausted and flopped on the couch for some R&R. Monkey played with his trains and I started looking at Facebook on my phone. I must have been quite engrossed in the status updates that day because I didn’t even notice Monkey going in the kitchen, opening the freezer and getting out this:

Helping himself to Edy's

Helping himself to Edy's

Yes, that’s a container of Edy’s he has dragged onto our dining room floor and eating out of with his bare hands.

I like doing these “segments” and think I might call them Silly Shenanigans!

BTW, apologies for the sideways pictures. I’m too lazy tonight to figure out why WordPress is changing the orientation of them.

Daddy’s little helper

I’ve seen many onesies and baby T-shirts that say “Daddy’s little helper”. They usually have tools or sporting themes. I don’t think this type of helper would ever make it on something found at Carter’s or Osh Kosh.

Apparently, DH got a lot of comments from other shoppers about the Corona and limes!

Shhh … he’s sleeping

This what Monkey said after putting the shampoo bottle “to sleep” on the soap holder in our bathroom.  Unfortunately, by the time I had my phone out to take a picture the “blanket”, his washcloth, had fallen off.

My little monster

For his birthday, Monkey received a very nice fleece blanket that is shaped like one of those hooded towels for toddlers.  It is a dragon and at first I think he was scared of it but now he loves it and sleeps with it often and occasionally plays with it.
